el KANTOOR

Established in 2017 in Beijing and moved to Rotterdam in 2020, el KANTOOR is an Architecture office led by Isabel Driessen and Andrés López that approaches design and research from the user based perspective. Its work scope includes different scale projects varying from furniture, interior, architecture to urban planning. They invite people of any age and background to think, design and build along in their projects by integrating workshops, conversations and model building in the process of design.

KANTOOR

ANDRÉS LÓPEZ

Born in Bogotá, Colombia, Andrés studied Architecture at Universidad Piloto de Colombia, where he graduated with honours. He received a Master in Architecture and Urban design at The Berlage institute in Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Andrés has worked at Arquitectura e Interiores (Bogotá), InterNationalDesign (Rotterdam), MVRDV (Rotterdam) and Mi2 (Beijing) before establishing el KANTOOR. Besides his work at el KANTOOR, Andrés develops and teaches architecture courses for children and adults under the name COLEGIO.

KANTOOR

ISABEL DRIESSEN

Born in Utrecht, The Netherlands, Isabel studied Architecture at TU Delft, where she graduated in a Master of Science in Architecture with Honours. During her studies she participated in an exchange program at SCI Arc in Los Angeles, USA. Isabel has worked at Royal Haskoning Architects (Amsterdam), Eric Owen Moss Architects (Los Angeles), MUTUO (Los Angeles) and Spark Architects (Beijing) before establishing el KANTOOR. Besides her work at el KANTOOR, Isabel is a lecturer in Spatial Development at the Hogeschool Rotterdam and an adviser for the Internationalization of the Design Sector Grant Scheme at the Creative Industries Fund NL.
